Uche Ogbodo Says Children Come First as Men Flood Her DMs After Split From Bobby Maris

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has declared that raising her children and healing are her only concerns right now, brushing aside the wave of romantic attention that has followed her separation from husband Bobby Maris. In a post shared on her Instagram page, the mother of three revealed she has been receiving roughly 100 direct messages from men every day since news of the split broke.

“Let Me Breathe First” — Ogbodo Reacts to the Flood of Suitors

The actress described the sudden rush of admirers as overwhelming, joking in a now-viral post that it seemed men had simply been waiting for an opening. “I’m not searching yet! Let me breathe 1st Ogini! 100 DMs a day is too much for just me nah. Haba!” she wrote.

Beyond the humour, Ogbodo struck a firmer tone about where her energy is going. “My priority right now is raising my children, my healing, however that journey unfolds, and moving forward with dignity and peace of mind,” she stated, adding that she would not be discussing the details of the marriage breakdown unless it became absolutely necessary.

Her confirmation of the separation followed days of speculation, triggered when the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram and posted cryptic messages. She had earlier shared an emotional video in which she was seen crying and told a friend she was “going through heartbreak”, captioning it, “Done being strong! Thank you to everyone putting a smile on my face”.

In confirming the split, the actress — who reportedly married Maris in January 2023 and shares two children with him — questioned why a woman ending a marriage is treated as taboo, writing, “Must it always be man must taya? My tayad is tayad!”

Why Ogbodo’s Separation Has Gripped Nollywood Watchers

As one of Nollywood’s recognisable faces, Ogbodo’s personal life inevitably draws intense public scrutiny, and celebrity separations in Nigeria’s entertainment space routinely spark heated online debate. Her decision to address the attention head-on, while appealing for kindness, understanding and respect, reflects a growing trend of stars setting boundaries publicly rather than letting speculation run unchecked.

For now, the actress has made her position unambiguous: her children and her peace of mind come before any new romance.
