Dapper Group CEO Damilola Akinwunmi Completes Harvard Business School’s Entertainment and Sports Programme

Damilola Akinwunmi, widely known as “Dapper” and the founder and CEO of Dapper Group, has completed the Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports programme at Harvard Business School, marking a significant milestone in his career as one of Nigeria’s foremost music and entertainment executives. The achievement was announced in June 2026, with Akinwunmi sharing the news directly with his followers via his Instagram page, where he reflected on what the experience meant to him.

A High-Profile Cohort

According to his post online, Akinwunmi completed the programme alongside a remarkably accomplished group of professionals drawn from across the global entertainment, sports and media landscape. Fellow participants included actor Jay Ellis, recognised for his work on the television series Insecure and the blockbuster film Top Gun: Maverick, as well as Real Madrid and French national team midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and South African football legend Siphiwe Tshabalala.

The cohort also featured former Chelsea and England defender Ryan Bertrand, former NBA champion Festus Ezeli, NFL players Jeff Okudah and Kelvin Beachum, and decorated Olympic gymnast Frederick Richard. Rounding out the group were senior executives from two of the world’s most powerful music corporations — Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group — creating what was described as a rich environment for cross-industry dialogue and strategic exchange.

The Harvard Business School programme is designed for leaders working at the crossroads of entertainment, media and sport, covering areas such as emerging industry trends, monetisation strategies, audience engagement, innovation and the shifting dynamics of the global cultural economy.

Building a Legacy in African Entertainment

Akinwunmi has steadily established himself as a key figure in Nigeria’s music industry through Dapper Group and its associated businesses. His work spans talent development, artist management, music distribution, live event production, marketing and strategic partnerships — efforts that have helped connect African creative talent to opportunities on the international stage.

The Harvard certification adds a notable academic credential to a career already defined by hands-on industry influence, further underlining his standing as one of the more forward-thinking executives operating within the African entertainment space.
