A young Nigerian woman who left home at the age of 17 to study in China has reportedly returned to surprise her family after eight years abroad. Now 25 and running her own marketing firm, she captured the emotional homecoming on video, and the footage has been circulating online.

From Chinese Medical Studies To Marketing CEO

According to reports, the woman’s father sent her to China to study medicine when she was 17. Three years into her studies, she reportedly abandoned medicine for business, a field she was genuinely passionate about and which she believed offered better earning prospects. Within five years she had graduated and launched her own marketing company, becoming a CEO before her mid-twenties.

Deciding it was time to see her family again, she travelled back to Nigeria without warning anyone. On arrival, she reportedly slipped into the family compound and concealed herself near a parked car while another lady went inside to lure her mother out on the pretence of showing her something.

When the mother stepped outside, she stared at the visitor for a few seconds without recognising her, until the young woman identified herself. The realisation triggered an outpouring of emotion — the older woman reportedly screamed, flung her handbag and headgear aside, and rushed into her daughter’s embrace, repeatedly kneeling and bowing in gratitude.

In a second clip, the returnee is seen prostrating before her father and thanking him for his sacrifices, while he gestures for her to rise. In a post accompanying the videos, she revealed that she was not the only beneficiary of his generosity — he had reportedly sponsored three of her siblings to study abroad as well.
